("Saving a Rott is a life altering experience")

A "TRUE" Rescue Story;
Our story begins in the later part of April of 2002 when our animal friendly acquaintance Lynne and her family was invited to friend of hers springtime barbeque. After a while a mutual acquaintance of the host stopped in with a pillowcase in hand and made the announcement "Does anyone want a puppy?" At that point he then with arms straight out dumped the contents of the sack in the yard. To the horror of the onlookers, the sack contained 5, approximately 5-week-old Rottweiler puppies that hit the ground with a thud! Our friend Lynne, and her husband who is a police officer gasp in horror at the site of the young Rotts squirming around on the ground! Being a guest at the get-together and trying not to make a scene, Lynne approached the gentlemen who said, "I'm on my way to the county dump with these puppies, take one if you want it", all with a sarcastic grin.

Lynne, while calmly trying to keep from killing the man, then called her husband over who asked the man "You aren't planning of throwing these puppies away are you?" The man reply to the affirmative to which Lynne's husband replied, "if you are, I will follow you to the dump, and if I see you carry out this crime, I will see that you arrested for felony animal cruelty!" Lynne then gathered all 5 of the young Rotts up an assumed the role of Rott Rescue. Over the next few days, Lynne found good homes for each of them. There was one puppy that sustained the brunt of the impact from hitting the ground, which Lynne and her husband decided to keep for themselves feeling that his chances were slim for being adopted due to his having an infection in his left eye. The family Vet has diagnosed the young dog with having a detached retina and is completely blind in his left eye.

Lynne and her husband have worked with German Sheppard's for 8 years and are a very loving family. Having never owned a Rottweiler before, they began doing some research on the breed to address any special needs they have. As fate would have it, Approximately six months later, while my wife and I were attending a football game were our 13 year old daughter Logan was a cheerleader for the junior squad of the Glen-Allen Ravens, Lynne approached me asking if I owned a Rottweiler, puzzled, I replied, "Why Yes, I do…", she said she had noticed the "I am the Rottweiler T-Shirt" I was wearing, and inquired about it. I thought to myself…Duhh, the shirt silly ;-)

We talked for a long while during which I explained that my wife and I owned the web site RottenRotty.Com where she could locate the answers to most any Rottweiler question she might have, and if she could not find the answers on the site to shoot us an email and we would find the answers for her.

Lynne and her husband (who shall remain nameless due to his occupation) have become great friends of ours in the past couple of months and we are so very thankful for their actions on the day that she rescued the five doomed Rott pups. They named their rescued male rott, "Seiger" and young "Seig" has become a very welcome addition to their family. In the early part of next year, they plan to pay the $4,000.00 for laser surgery to hopefully restore Seig's vision in his left eye, they feel he's earned that much, and because of their caring nature, we feel they Lynne and her family have earned the title of "RottenRotty's, Rotten Family of the Year!". Keep up the great work with Seiger and we hope to see him and all of you again real soon!
