For those of you who do not already know,
last Monday night, April 8th at approximately 4:00am. EST, Our
web hosting facility suffered a "1 in a million"
duel hard drive crash of a Raid 5 server drive array. Now
I understand that some of you are thinking huh?, But what this
means is that both the primary, and the backup hard drives in
the web server became damaged at the same time and the result
was that not only did our web site go down, but also more then
75% of the files that make up our site were corrupted and
rendered unreadable.
After
sifting through the damaged files, I salvaged what I could and
began the enormously pain staking task of rebuilding the more
than 200Mb of web files commonly known as RottenRotty.Com.
After the salvaged files were assessed, I then went back to
the latest back-up copy that I had on CD and I was then able
to restore our web site. However this process was not without
it's own issues. We were able to upload from a back-up we had
done on November 26th of 2002 which means that there
are still quite a few updates that are missing. We ask our
viewers to please be patient as we try to update the missing
information such as, showcase photos, Links, etc. This
also means that our entire "Spring 2003 Spoiled Rotten
Photo Contest" sub-site was completely destroyed. So we
will have to postpone this contest until I have the chance to
rebuild it. I do have the entire collection of entry photos
that were sent in to us up to that date on a back-up CD (Thank
Goodness!), so I will place those photos back in the contest
as I rebuild the contest site.
If you know of things we are missing such
as photos and stories from our "Rotten Showcase",
"In memory board", "links, etc. we ask that you
email us with that information so that we can restore our site
back to it's current state as quickly as possible, not to
mention get a fresh "bullet Proof " back up copy.
